A Few Words About My Hobby: Digital Photography
Back in 1999, I took my first-ever trip to Las Vegas.
My friend Chris and I drove down from his home in Fernley, spent the night, and then headed to Laughlin for an Oak Ridge Boys concert. I took dozens of pictures around Vegas and at the concert.
None of them turned out. Not one. I have absolutely no record of my first-ever visit to Las Vegas. Boy, was I upset.
That fall, in preparation of my first-ever trip to Europe, I purchased my first-ever (notice a trend here?) digital camera. It was a Nikon CoolPix 950, and packed a whopping 2.1 megapixels.
It quite literally changed my life.
I loved the instant feedback of the display on the back of the camera. Bad picture? No problem — just delete it and try again.
There were thousands of deletions over the next few years, but an awfully lot of good pictures, too. When I got to Europe the next year, I took what turned out to be some of the best pictures I have ever taken. Some of those shots still remain my best work.
I began to not only enjoy taking pictures, but the actual results as well.
I’ve continued this hobby, albeit with a more advanced camera.
You are welcome to see some of my pictures at my Flickr album. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
